Workmanship Warranty
Truebertan Contracting LTD · Updated October 28, 2026
Know what is covered and how to ask for help
We want customers to understand their coverage before construction begins. Your written agreement identifies the work, warranty period and any project-specific conditions.
One-year workmanship coverage
For renovation and installation projects expressly covered by this policy, Truebertan Contracting LTD warrants workmanship against defects directly resulting from improper installation for one year from substantial completion, unless a different period is expressly agreed in writing. Your completion record will identify the applicable start date. Substantial completion means the contracted improvements can reasonably be used for their intended purpose despite minor outstanding items, subject to the agreement and applicable law.
This policy can apply to contracted interior renovations, basement development, kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, drywall, painting, fences, decks and commercial improvements. The specific work must be included in the accepted agreement. This policy does not retroactively alter an existing project’s warranty.
What workmanship coverage provides
Where an issue is a covered workmanship defect, we will arrange to correct the defective workmanship within our original contracted scope, without charging for the covered correction. The appropriate repair will be discussed after assessment. Coverage does not promise an unrelated upgrade, a complete replacement where a suitable repair resolves the defect, or coverage for work outside our contract. Mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
Product and manufacturer warranties
Products such as composite decking, flooring, hardware and fixtures may have separate manufacturer coverage. Their terms, registration requirements and periods vary. Manufacturer coverage is separate from our installation workmanship warranty. Retain product information and care instructions supplied with your project. A product defect does not automatically establish an installation defect, and a manufacturer exclusion does not by itself excuse defective installation.
Client-supplied materials do not carry a Truebertan material warranty. Any manufacturer coverage must be checked with the supplier. Our agreed installation workmanship coverage still applies to our installation.
What is generally outside workmanship coverage
Coverage does not extend to an issue to the extent it results from:
Ordinary wear, misuse, impact damage or failure to follow reasonable product care instructions.
Water intrusion, building movement, settlement or another pre-existing condition not caused or worsened by our defective workmanship.
Normal material characteristics, including natural wood grain, colour variation or reasonable seasonal movement, where installation was properly performed.
A manufacturing defect or failure of equipment rather than our installation workmanship.
Damage or alterations by others after our work, where those actions caused the issue being claimed.
Unrelated work, upgrades or changes requested after completion.
Seasonal movement or third-party work does not automatically cancel all coverage. The cause of the particular issue matters. These exclusions do not remove responsibility for defective workmanship or rights provided by law.
How to report an issue
Contact info@truebertancontracting.ca or 1-825-993-9397 as soon as you notice a concern. Written notice helps keep a clear record.
Include your name, project address, quotation or invoice reference if available, when the issue appeared and a brief description. Add photographs if safe to obtain; a missing reference number should not prevent an initial inquiry.
Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage. For an immediate safety hazard, contact the appropriate emergency service or qualified trade rather than waiting for a routine warranty response. Keep records of any necessary emergency work.
Allow reasonable access for assessment and an opportunity to correct covered work. Where practical, contact us before arranging non-emergency alterations so the original condition can be assessed. Necessary emergency action does not automatically eliminate coverage.
We will discuss the assessment and next steps. Repair timing depends on urgency, access, weather, trade availability and replacement materials. If the issue is outside coverage, we will explain why and obtain approval before carrying out chargeable repairs. This page does not promise a 24-hour or emergency repair service.
New homes and statutory coverage
This renovation and installation workmanship policy is separate from legally required new-home warranty insurance. For a new home or a project subject to Alberta’s new-home warranty requirements, the applicable statutory coverage and provider documents must be confirmed for that specific project. This page does not represent that Truebertan holds a particular builder licence or warranty-provider registration, and it does not replace or reduce statutory coverage.
Your rights
This voluntary workmanship policy supplements applicable legal rights. It does not waive consumer protections or restrict rights that cannot lawfully be restricted. Contact us before approving a quotation if you want a particular warranty provision clarified in writing.
Read our Terms and Conditions. Discuss your project.
